Volunteer Opportunity: Social Media Coordinator
Description:
Light Pollution News is a twice monthly podcast that connects listeners to pertinent and entertaining news stories around the topic of nighttime conservation. Light Pollution News maintains a presence on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Youtube. The organization puts out news related and show related social media content at multiple points during the week.
What we are looking for:
Light Pollution News is a small team that relies on listener funding. While our listeners are very generous with their support, we simply do not have the available funds to cover the salary of a social media coordinator. We are looking for someone who may be interested in using Light Pollution News as a springboard to future opportunities. We envision the Social Media Coordinator as someone who wishes to take on the opportunity to provide pertinent and timely postings as a way to create and grow their personal portfolio while in search of agency or other marketing related job opportunities.
The Ask:
- This position requires the Social Media Coordinator to listen and review shows to identify pertinent news carousel postings.
- This position requires the Social Media Coordinator to identify and create applicable Reels/Shorts/TikToks from guest conversations.
- This position requires the Social Media Coordinator to create and implement a weekly posting schedule.
What Success Looks Like:
Our Success is Your Success.
- Grow follower counts across all platforms.
- Generate consistently high engagement numbers across all platforms.
Compensation:
This is a volunteer position. We understand that this role is not for everyone given its unique challenges. It’s our goal to continue to grow revenue streams to help provide future compensation for this role.
